Everyone in thier life has had a canker sore, or a fever blister, or whatever and it is from my understanding a normal thing, that almost everyone gets.

i've had canker sores, once in a blue moon my whole life, for one thing i've got bad teeth and they scrape the side of my cheek sometimes.

What's the difference between HSV1 and typical canker sores people get in thier mouth ?

i've got HSV 2 and i've been on Valtrex for 6 days for it, so i realy don't think a simple canker sore is HSV1.

what's the verdict ? because i've heard everyone who's ever had shingle or a canker sore has a form of herpes which is why just about everyone has antibodies, because they've been exposed to it.

but that HSV1 and HSV2 are different from it.

Canker sores are not contagious and are a totally different thing than a cold sore.

so how do you tell the difference inside your mouth between a canker sore and a cold sore ? guess i'll have to do a google search or something.

A canker sore occurs on the inside of your mouth, usually the cheek area & a cold sore (HSV-1) usually occurs on the outside of the mouth, on the lip or the face.

Herpes can occur inside the mouth, but it's rare. I'm not sure if the appearance is different than that of a canker sore. Maybe you can find somthing on the internet that could help you visually differenciate the two... if not, I suppose you'd have to get a swab.
