Sorry to sound ticked off but your results are NOT positive and your doctor is a moron. I am so tired of a misinformed medical community.
IGM means NOTHING. Most of the population will test positive because this includes exposure to chickenpox, shingles, simplex 1 (usually oral), and simplex 2 (usually genital).
IGg is what means something. If I am understanding you correctly and you tested negative for both HSV1 and HSV2 then you don't have herpes. Unless you had recent exposure and the test has not had a chance to pick it up. I believe it's best to be tested at 16 weeks after exposure but not sure on that completely.
Your leg pain could actually be shingles and that might be why you tested positive for the first test although this would be a tingling sensation...just a thought. Or if you had chickenpox like the rest of the world....voila! I'm not a doctor but I would ask them to further investigate....oh and I would see a different doctor who actually knows something about herpes. You might want to tell your existing doctor though that he/she needs to brush up on herpes before freaking you and many other people out.

Best of luck

Even though I question the test because I've read that IGM tests are not reliable, the test was done about 14 weeks post exposure, and the IGG's were negative...I'm still freaking out.
I did have some leg ache sensation in early Jan, but they stopped when I got my first test results (IGM and IGG negative). Regardless, I continued the supplement regime.
Since Jan 6 (right before my first test which came back IGM and IGG Negative), I've been taking 2000 mg's of Lysine, garlic, echinechea with golden seal, multivitamin, and vitamin C daily. For the past several days, I've upped the Lysine to 3000mg's/day. I've also been injesting lots of water like recommended.
Plus, I'm on my third day of Valtrex and I still have this mild ache in my calf muscles. It doesn't hurt or tingle, but they feel mildly tired for some reason.
Can someone please help? Nothing seems to be working, I'm frustrated, confused, and depressed.
