| Re: are these bad for OB's..a few other ?s
I've been drinking a weight gain shake (mostly chocolate) every day for the last year or so, and I haven't had an OB in 1.5 years. The amount of lysine per shake is around 4300mg, arginine around 2000mgs. From what I've read, the important thing is the ratio of lysine to arginine, not so much the actual amount. Since the shakes we are drinking have a high lysine to arginine ratio, I would say they are probably helping with OBs. I have never supplemented with lysine, but I do take garlic, an Omega 3-6-9, Vit E, and a multi, plus a very healthy lifestyle. I don't know how vitamins interact with amino acids, I never worried about it. Both are essential, so I would say there's no problem there. But, that's an uneducated opinion.
5 weeks is a long OB, but not uncommon, especially if you're in the first year of infection. I've had some last over 8 weeks, and with alternative medicine (oral H2O2, topical DMSO) I eliminated all symptoms completely. There might be something else compromising your immune system, a cold or flu bug maybe? Stress? Maybe it's a healing reaction and some of the virus is leaving your body. The possibilities are endless, it just takes time to get to know how your specific body is going to be affected by the virus.
