Possible STD/Herpes...

Hello all. About a month ago I lost my virginity at 20 yo, having a one night stand. I had unprotected sex with her. About three weeks later I had another sexual encounter with a girl who is a lot more loose personality wise. We also didn't use a condom. Neither girl showed visible signs of any type of STD that I can remember. However I'm pretty convinced that neither girl would have told me whether they had anything. I really don't feel comfortable asking them now either. I want to get tested sometime this week for any bacterial type diseases. Although I don't have any real symptoms of herpes yet, I do have 2 small red, sore bumps about 6 inches down the back of my leg. I have gotten pimples there before and I busted one and it seemed like a pimple to me. Should I get them checked out or is it likely that I would have gotten them on my genitals too, if it was herpes. I also am having a little tenderness around the opening of my penis. It's not painful to urinate and it could be my parnoia creating it. Most STDs do cause some sort of pain near the opening in the penis don't they. What are the odds that I would get herpes having unprotected sex with these two girls if they did have herpes. This past week has been the worst week of my life. I have trouble sleeping, eating, and concentrating on anything except my ignorance. I hope I'm just paranoid because that would stink to go from a virgin to having a life long STD in a month. I have no one else to blame but myself. I do have a lot more sympathy and respect for those that do have this virus. Thanks for everything.

Re: Possible STD/Herpes...

hey, i know how u feel. u're trying to get relief from this site by hearing comments say u don't have herpes. seriously, this is the worst site for it since anything resembling redness, itching, soreness and pimples would automatically equal to herpes here. doing a HSV-2 test would also mean nothing on this site. I'm afraid you're going to be MORE insane visting this site cause the only way ppl here will convince don't have it is if you do a swab test on an open leision. and once you have an open leision, there's a GOOD chance you have herpes. but then if you don't have open leisions, ppl here are convinced that no test is accurate enough to tell u whether you have herpes or not and that blood tests mean jack. read the archives in this board. this is one depressing site.

PERSONALLY i don't think having 2 pimples 6 inches below the back of ur leg is anywhere close to being herpes. heck, i was checking out some japanese porn two nights ago and this chick had at least a hundred pimples around her groin and buttocks area! probably from all the lubricant and fluids.

BUT, to keep with this board's traditions and to limit myself from liability, here's my token repsonse: "It could be anything. Its hard to diagnose you over the Internet. Herpes can come in all forms and sizes. some ppl don't even have symptoms. Go to the doctor and get tested if you see sores. Or do a HSV-2 test. 80% of the ppl have HSV-1 so it might not be worth it.

OK, to end it off, DON'T WORRY cause i really don't think you have it. stress is going to take the better of u if u keep on worrying.

Madvikes...if you are concerned then get a test so you won't have to worry about it. The test will either be negative or positive and then you can move on from there. Going to your doctor or a clinic is the best place to get diagnosed. Members on this board cannot diagnosis you.

To 206GTI - Most of the people on this board are trying to help each other out. If you don't like that....then don't come here and post. Nobody cares to hear you bashing the people on this board. A lot of people here never thought they had herpes. Many of us thought we had allergies or irritations and were shocked to find out it was herpes. Most of us were never in contact with a person that had a visible outbreak so it was a huge surprise to be diagnosed with this.

As for the advise people hand out here. Almost everyone on this board tells people to go to the doctor if they think they have something wrong with them. I have not seen one posting from the members telling another member that they definitely have herpes. Most doctors have a difficult time making a diagnosis with the patient standing in front of them. Members on this board are not so arrogant to think they could possibly make a diagnosis of another member via a posting on the internet.

If you find this site depressing then find another site that makes you happy and stop bashing those of us who are trying to help people!!!

Re: Possible STD/Herpes...

206, I know you've had a hard time with this, and you want definite answers when there are none, but this board is only for people who care and want to tell the truth to the best of their ability. We are not spending time here to give token responses, but to show people we care. If you cannot do that, please do not post. I don't find your comments very supportive. I myself have gotten a lot of laughs, advice, and sympathy from people here. Most people understand that we are not here to diagnose or be anyone's free dr, but to share some concerns, to commiserate, to discuss treatments that have had some success for us, and to wish those with out-of-the-ordinary symptoms good luck. And if we give patterned responses sometimes, it's because many people don't take the time to read other threads with questions almost identical to the ones they post; that's ok, but after 10 months on this board answering 100 or more similar questions, our responses don't always vary. We try to say something because some people get upset if they get no answer. We say what we know is true: some people with certain symptoms have it; some with the same symptoms don't. Bashing us is offensive and will not help you, madvikes, or any of the rest of us, and does a lot of damage to morale here. Yours, not anyone else's, are the most negative posts I've read here for a while. Please try to be more positive, for all concerned. Or go to another board that you like better. I'm not trying to be disrespectful, just saying how harmful I believe your attitude is, even though I sympathize with what you're going through. After all, I haven't been up in the air for 14 years about this. But when I was, I went to a dr and didn't expect my friends to diagnose me. Even my friends with herpes.

Re: Possible STD/Herpes...

Oops, forgot you for a moment, madvikes! Did these sore bumps seem like your other pimples in the same area? My h sores are not like regular pimples at all. If yours were whiteheads or filled with that creamy-white pimple fluid, they are probably just pimples! I would never pop a herpes bump--which is filled with clear fluid, not white--it would hurt much more than a pimple. And a pimple will usually start healing when popped, but a herpes sore only starts to heal when your immune system gets the better of the virus for a while--so it would stay painful, and there would be a sore that remained longer after popping. Also, most primary outbreaks include a rash and itching (although not always.) Hope this helps some. The truth is, if you really think you have cause to worry, you should get it checked out.
