an expert in the herpes game said that if you already have type one orally, that it's less likely to contract type one in the genitals. everything i've been reading has said otherwise. you could still catch it genitally even if you have it orally. it could be transferred. if that's true, then i'm relived, but once again, confused. any help would be great. three doctors i saw didn't know a damn thing and wrote me off. nice huh?

Member question: My girlfriend gets cold sores. That is the same virus - herpes - right? Can she give me the virus via oral sex?

Warren: Absolutely. However, if you already have HSV-1, then it is unlikely that you would get it genitally if you don't have it there already. If you have ever had a cold sore, then you also have HSV-1 and you could have HSV-1 and never have a cold sore.

not to be rude, but if u re-read ur post, it defies logic. first u say its said to be LESS LIKELY to contract gen. HSV-1 if u have oral HSV-1. then u say everything else u read says OTHERWISE and that its possible to contract it. LESS LIKELY DOES NOT mean impossible. it just means not as highly likely.

then u say that u're relieved (or relived?) that u could still catch gen. HSV-1 even if u have oral HSV-1? so u're happy that its possible to catch the virus?

then u go on to post a question with a reply. and that reply is written by an expert smarter than all of us put together. it seems like u've answered ur own question.

SOrry to sound harsh, but i could u clarify ur question?

i was just posting what people say about autoinclination. that you could transfer it to somewhere else on your body. as for being relieved...i'm relived that i could not contract it below since i had it orally. i know the expert that i posted about is smarter than all of us, but from what i read on here, i just wanted people to read that. then again, these experts don't personally deal with things like most of us do ya know. i worded it as unlikely to contract it where as the doctor worded it as not likely or something to that matter. i just wanted to see if people had something different to say. if this doctor is right, then i have nothing to worry about except what this weird stuff is going on down below.
