Question how many outbreaks can one expect & symptons?

I'm new to being diagnosed with GH. Unfortuneatly, the partner who I believe gave it to me has no interest in his health nor mine since this has happened to me (a real winner, huh!).

that fateful nite...he basically was "into himself" and was too rough on me...thus I bled and was sore (it wasn't worth all of this as there was zero pleasure in it for me)...then the GH came into play. I'm not sure if he gave it to me or not because he doesn't care to go to the DR to find out. I guess I could have already had it and the roughness initiated an outbreak..guess I'll never know? I hope all men aren't pigs like this one...

so....back to my question. I'm not sure what the symptons are of an oncoming outbreak and what to expect for how many more in my lifetime if I take care of myself. I'm taking 2000mg of Lysine a day, vitamins. I eat healhty and workout 6 days a week.

I read that only 86% people only get one...gosh I hope that is me. So far just one in a month..but I'm not having sex with myself nor anyone at this point...'cause I really have no interest in sex anymore since that is what put me in this predicament.

Thanks for any useful info.

Hi Chic,

I am female and have had GH for 16 years. If you look up my post under my user name for 'I have GH - My Experience (three posts)', you can see my history, and my symptoms.

GH is strange, because although there are factors that can preclude an outbreak, you can get one for "no good reason". Exhaustion, illness, stress, menstrual cycles can bring on outbreaks for some people. But you can be having the time of your life, and be feeling your best, and still get some symptoms.

I don't blame you for feeling non-sexual at this point. For many people, a diagnosis of GH impacts a person more emotionally than physically. You are dealing with a lot right now, I'm sure. I've been there, I know.

Not all men are inconsiderate. It's important to get to know someone well before you take a relationship to a sexually intimate stage - whether you have an STD or not. It's too bad that you had the experience that you did with this man. Some men are into control. But there are very nice men out there! You will feel like being intimate with someone again, I promise.

I'm off here on the weekends, but I'll be around if you have any more questions. Big hug.

Re: how many outbreaks can one expect & symptons?

FitChic a lot of women do get an outbreak right near thier period. Itching is a good Prodrome symptom that an outbreak is on it's way. Someone told me something interesting though for the virus to actually breakout it has to replicate on the surface of the skin...if the skin is numb it can't do that. I'd suggest one of the best things you could do right now and i know it sounds wierd is get a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and either spray it, or pour it, or dab it with a kleenex down there. it works do great when your having prodrome symptoms and if you've got an actual outbreak it (at least in my case) gets rid of the sores quickly, extremely quickly. I've heard spray bactine works well too, cause it numbs the skin. As far as symptoms and how many outbreaks everyone is different i had one major outbreak and then ONE sore with my second outbreak and even though i've had prodrome symtoms i've yet to have another outbreak. The woman who so graciously forgot to tell me she was a "swinger" and had her own adult website has been breaking out every month and supposedly her doctors said he's never seen a "new" infection break out this much...
Supressive therapy with valtrex is a very good thing...and really does seem to keep you from having multiple outbreaks. I'm glad your working out that seemed to help me a lot in keeping this thing at bay..

As for the guy, that's really unfortunate. it took me a few months before i was able to do "let" myself do anything with anyone, like you i didn't feel very sexual and once i couldn't stop laughing because right in the middle of my second outbreak when i was itching and kinda hurting down there, my libido went through the roof and i was going nuts and couldn't do a dam thing about it lol

You'll find the best thing with having herpes is tender, slow, sex, especially with lube to keep friction down so you don't hurt or tear, or cause a "friction outbreak" which some people seem to get. Don't assume all guys are like the guy that "might" have given this to you. There are a LOT of good men out there and if anything this will only weed out the undesirables. I wish you the very best with Charly and hope you make it through without incident or harm.

Re: how many outbreaks can one expect & symptons?

thanks all!

Yes..the itching is driving me inSANE!!! I have been rubbing hyd. peroxide all day long, car max...now to the spray baxine!! I have NO sores, but constant throbbing and itching (which i knew this morning wasn't a good thing)

I'm so afraid it will be as bad as the last one (it hurt so bad to pee I cried each time and avoided drinking fluids to a minimum)...could hardly walk, sit, much less cyclying or the gym!!

That "guy" let me know he went to the dr. (yeah!!) and is awaiting his results...so we'll see. I'm glad at least he is being responsible.

I feel like the drug store...I just pray it isn't as bad as the first one and I don't get one every 3 weeks!! I guess one shouldn't use a tampon during an outbreak??? That would probably hurt!!...great...pads...girls, aren't they just lovely???!!!!

OH YEAH... I need to know something...when a girl gets GH are the cold sores all up inside you too as well as externally....can you spray or cue-tip the baxine inside you as well???
