What to take and what to avoid

Any suggestions for GH?

I'm not talking about what to put on it, but what to take to prevent, help OB?

Stress is my biggest problem. I'm looking for anyone who takes something oral that is no prescription.

Also, what foods should I avoid? Coffee, peanuts I heard.

Re: What to take and what to avoid

Hi Mark,
My personal regimine has served me pretty well and I keep it pretty simple.
First, I do try to avoid the basic ones like Coffee, Nuts and Chocolate. Coffee is easy for me, but Nuts and Chocolate I love. It bums me out to not eat them. Chocolate I'm probably better off, but some nuts, like walnuts, are so good for you. Sometimes I'll have a little bite of this or that, though, and I seem to be OK.
I also try to avoid sugar in that it's very immunosuppressive (and in my opinion, basically poison), but I'm not ultra successfull all the time. Supposedly alcohol is one to be avoided as well. I do ok with it in moderation.

As far as suppliments, I take the following:

Lysine: I was taking 1000mg every morning on an empty stomach for the last 8 months. There's some speculation that Lysine isn't as effective for genital herpes as it is for oral, but in my case it made a huge difference. Now I've taken to taking breaks from it mid month and taking it either around my period, or any time my body feels suspicious, or if I've eaten something like Chocolate or had a few drinks.

A multivitamin. Mine is food-based (some say that the body assimilates the nutrients better than the chemically-made ones. Makes sense to me). My vitamin is one that I take a few times a day, but it's all about personal preference, there are plenty of one-a-days out there.

Olive leaf extract: It's a natural anti-viral. Oleuropein is the important ingredient and you want the higest percentage you can find. The one I have now is 18 percent, but you can find it in 20. I take it sort of the same as the lysine, but I don't take them at the same time. I space them a couple of hours at least.

Garlic: I also usually keep garlic pills on hand. I was doing raw garlic for awhile, chopping it up in chunks and swallowing it down like pills, but it just got to be too much, so I'm back to the odorless pills. Again, I take them when I feel like I need them.

Other than that, I just eat well. I never eat fast food and try to get all my fruits and veggies.
This combination of things has served me pretty well and my OBs have improved drastically both in number and severity. Thank goodness for this board, it's been a huge source of both support and suggestions for ways to keep this annoying little virus under control. Thanks guys!!

Re: What to take and what to avoid

Great information. Could you help me here with timeline? I'm approaching my one year and trying to get a feel if my body will kick in or not and things will improve. When did you start this routine related to your first OB?
