Does anyone have outbreaks all the time, never a break?

I have been married for almost 19 years, and in 1997 found out my husband has Herpes. I was extremely upset- yada yada yada yet we are still together. I have gone in several times to get Valtrex and all the other meds for the past 7 years that i could, i was tested in '97 also, and was borderline positive for Herpes simplex 2 , but i have never felt an outbreak myself. We have never used condoms and i have never had a bad pap smear yet. My husband did go on valtrex for a very short time but ever since '97 he has had the blisters. They never go away. They move around and they do heal, yet he always has them. He has given up on the meds, even tho he didn't really use them like he should have. I have never had even a coldsore, yet i do sometimes feel a tingle but never any pain or blisters or anything. I am still confuised about this disease and am wondering if we havent been protecting ourselves from the disease per say Condoms, how long will it be before i get a serious cervical problem. Any why his blisters Never clear up, and i mean never. Anyone that can help me, i'd really appreciate it.

Re: Does anyone have outbreaks all the time, never a break?

welcome to the board.

Since you are borderline positive for type 2 you should retest 2-3 months later to see if your count increases. If it does, then you most likely have type 2; if not, then you probably don't have type 2 at all.

Furthermore, if you're lucky not to have type 2 yet, maybe you should insist to your husband to use condoms from now on. Also, he definitely should be taking some kind of meds (valtrex etc.) if he has non-stop outbreaks. This will help protect you from contracting it.

Good luck.

Re: Does anyone have outbreaks all the time, never a break?

I think your post is very interesting. From your husband's standpoint, he needs meds. It is my understanding the the anti-viral meds will reduce/cause GH to retreat back into the spine when taken. This should reduce OB. In a way, I can't believe your husband can deal with the on going itching, burning, and mental part of ongoing OB.

Now, based upon the lack of protection for this amount of time, I would guess that you have GH. However, you are one of the fortunate ones that does not seem to have the typical OB, like your husband.

If you don't have GH I would be amazed based upon everything I read.

I suggest going in to get tested again and having your husband see a Dr. about meds.

Re: Does anyone have outbreaks all the time, never a break?

I’m 23 and have had HSV for just over 2 years now. I think that I also get sores more than most. It seems that almost as soon as one bout has cleared up then another appears. I can probably count the 'clear' weeks that I had last year on one hand! I have been recommended by my doctor to go on Aciclovir 200mg tablets 5 times a day for a while to reduce the count, then go on a lower dosage to keep it that way. Aside from the discomfort I have never been too bothered to start the course and see the results, but as I am now with a new partner I’m going to give it a go and see. I’m so paranoid that I’m going to give it to her that I use a condom in bed and wear boxers as well, so as to almost eliminate all skin contact. It’s OK for the short term but I definitely want a more permanent and manageable solution.

I know that I don’t treat by body all that well (I’m a student, its all part of the deal!), but I’m sure that the high stress, bad diet, drinking and late nights/erratic sleeping patterns play a big part in this for me. I have also bought some Echinacea, which is a herbal remedy that naturally increases your body's immune system apparently. Once I start the course and also start being kinder to myself in general I will let you know is there is any marked improvement.

All the best,

Adam

Re: Does anyone have outbreaks all the time, never a break?

I used to get one OB per week. Then I started taking Lysine, Oregano pills, and regular vitamins. The ob finally stopped. Everyday, I rub my penis with Hydrogen Peroxide and put alovera cream. That has stopped the ichiness and tingling sensations. Now, it is like a have nothing.
I am also using DMSO from time to time. SO, I don't get anything anymore.
The trick is not to worry too much about it and make peace with the virus.
If I even suspect an on-coming OB, I use DMSO more often to prevent them.
The process works.
Now, you can also try Coenzime Q10. that really helps far more than you think.
Good luck. Hang in there. Don't eat too much chocolates, though.
