My husband gets frequent painful cracks on very outer corners of his mouth (sometimes one, sometimes both) and they take anywhere from a few days to over a week to heal. From what I've read online, these cracks sound like they could be "angular chelitis", but due to the fact that I was recently diagnosed with genital herpes (blood test still pending), we're wondering if I may have contracted it through oral sex. A couple of days after he performed oral sex on me with one of these cracks on his mouth, a small painful ulcer appeared between my vaginal lips and went away in about 10 days. Given that the ulcer has come back in the exact same spot two weeks later (grrrr!), I'm feeling quite certain that my blood test is going to come back positive.
We asked our doctor about the sores on his mouth and he said that although cold sores don't typically appear as cracks on the corner of the mouth, it's certainly not impossible.
Do any of you with oral herpes have outbreaks that appear in such a way?
