Gential HSV-1 Question.

Hey everyone, I posted a little ways back about possibly being infected by my ex-girlfriend (dropped on a bomb on me). As it turns out she had actually been infected with HSV-1 in the gential area. I went in for the blood test and my results were as follows: IGM was at .48 and IGG was at .25.

According to my doctor I'm negative for both but he also said that from these results it appeared not only was I negative but that I had never had any exposure to either virus at all. On the down side we did find a few molloscum on my penis and testicles (which I had burned off-oh that sucked man) which he thinks I did get from her.

Now the neg herpes result is great news but I also know it can take some time for the HSV to show up (got the test after 4 four weeks from exposure). I've read that gential to gential transfer of HSV-1 is more difficult. Supposedly there are far fewer OB's and shedding involved with this type and I was wondering if anyone out there has any experience with this. I'm still having problems with itching and overall rawness (nothing horribly painful but noticeably irritating). I'm trying to move on from this whole experience but I'm worried because I feel like I'm in this strange position of not knowing if I have herpes or not. My biggest concern is not giving it to anyone if I do have it but at the same time I don't to be telling potential female partners that I may have something when in fact I don't. I'm going to go back in a few months and get tested again but till then I'm at a loss of what to do.

Thanks for listening,

J

Re: Gential HSV-1 Question.

I had to look molloscum up to see what it was. It really doesn't sound much different than herpes. The web page I looked at said the virus stays in your system and is spread by skin to skin contact. Did the doctor give you any advice on this virus?

Re: Gential HSV-1 Question.

Actually there is a big difference. Molloscum's are small white pimplish bumps that contain the virus but they are painless and harmless. They are easily removed (though not without some pain) but will go away by themselves without treatment. The can spread easily though so it's a good idea to have them removed soon as possible. I will take these things over GH any day.

Re: Gential HSV-1 Question.

Hi I am new to this site but find the information here very valuable. I was tested postive for genetal HSV 1 the Igg was 2.91, does anyone know at what point are you considered positive ? I keep hoping that this virus will go away (really dreaming huh ) and I will be able to some now make it become a negative reading. I am presently taking everything I can to keep from having any outbreaks, COQ10, Garlic, Cats Claw, Monolaurin, LLysine. I even have bought DMSO and a bottle of some blue substance that kills the virus on contact. I cannot express how depressed I feel since I was so careful using condoms and know now that it was from a partner who didn't think he could give it to me from oral sex. Any info if anyone has experienced a decline in their testing going into a negative state ?

The people on here are fantastic great group, this site has given me more comfort than you can know. Thanks

Re: Gential HSV-1 Question.

Sorry to hear about your situation.

I believe it has to be under .90 but I'm not positive. As far as I'm concerned my test results were to early to be definitve. I'm having too many problems not to have gotten it from her. My doctor just seems to blow it off and I have to wait till next year when I my health insurance changes to see another one. I can relate to your situation. In my case I actually told the girl how I felt about any keeping std history from me before we had sex and was dumb enough to accept her half-*** answer (there was none). Now I'm paying the price for not paying attention. It blows my mind that someone would do this. That's pure evil and feeling like this is depressing as hell. I've never been the kind of guy to sleep around and I've always been responsible about sex. One slip up and everything changes.... it's horrible.

You're right about the folks here. I've gotten some good advice and it helps knowing you're not alone. That really matters with something like this.
