Be careful when reading info on herpes. If you got every person on this board to post the location of their ob, type of ob, how long it lasts, symptoms etc etc you would get a different reply from just about every person. Herpes symptoms vary. I remember when i used to look up herpes pics on the net and i thought "phew, i don't have it, mine doesn't look anything like that". Then when my doctor saw it and said it's just a heat rash and told me to continue life as per normal. I'm just fortunate i visited a sexual health clinic and they swabbed the spot which was irritated and the result came back positive.
So get a blood test or a swab, but don't just rely on other people's testimonials or info on the net. The lady i spoke to at the clinic said that she gets loads of people who have convinced themselves that they have HIV purely on info they have read off the internet, even though their blood tests come back negative.
