No underwear for 2005 - Herpes Message Board

Hey everyone ~
Just wanted some opinions.....It seems going daily without underwear is more comfortable for those who have genital herpes. I know some of you, may be thinking this isn't very hygenic, but I'm wondering, if it's actually better for genital herpes. Less confining, less friction, more air to the infected areas. I know, your mom saying "wear clean underwear if you're ever in an accident", but perhaps, that's out-dated. Can anyone share their thoughts/inputs. I've been thinking of going "commando" (as my daughter would call it), on a daily basis......Thanx, in advance for your thoughts.....

I hardly ever wear underwear. When I used to have my outbreaks, I had more problems when I did where underwear. So, I think it helps to let it breathe down there. BUT, if it's a warmer day or if you'll be doing any sort of activity where you might be sweating...cotton underwear is what you need.

Sometimes loose underwear is easier on you than pants, shorts, or tights with no undies. But dresses are usually better without.

Not to be rude or crude, but I believe that wearing thongs can cause ob's due to friction. However, only during the time that ob would occur (your period, stress, lack of sleep, low immune sys).

Wearing no underwear is great if you are very "dry" down there and i envy those people as "wettness" can encourage yeast infections and doesn't help ob's heal faster, so you are right about no udnerwear.

If you tend to get discharge of any sort or are prone to becoming "wet" rather quick then it is difficult and that would be my situation, but at nights i definitely don't wear underwear. I did see a gyno, but after tests he just came to the conclusion that i had a highly functioning bartholens gland (sp?) as he didn't find any infections etc elsewhere.

Shiny, i had to laugh at "commando" :P
