Really...It has bothered me a great deal, no only because of the symptoms, but because of not hearing about any other people having this! Thanks for your reply.
As for the outbreaks, the first year was the worst, now my second year with HSV1 and 2, I hardly notice an outbreak at all, and it leaves in two days-BUT the tingling and neuralgia in my face and legs goes on for weeks. It is crazy- when I was first diagnosed with HSV 2 I thought I was going to dread the outbreaks, but I now fear the neurological garbage.
I am frustrated that when I was diagnosed, none of the doctors ever mentioned neourological problems that may occur.
And I have found that they never heard of it, but it is so real.
HI ALL FOR ME I HAVE G-H2 FOR 4 YEARS AND NOT TO BAD ON O-B BUT.... THE TWITCHES JUST STARTED ABOUT 8 MONTHS AGO I HAVE NEVER HEARD ABOUT THAT... IT'S MOSTLY IN MY ARMS THAT I FEEL THEM... BUT THEY ARE A PAIN IN THE *** ... SOMETIMES MY HANDS EVEN TWITCH... I WONDER IF IT EVER GOES AWAY OR IF THERE O-B OF SOME KIND I'D RATHER HAVE THE TWITCHING THEN THE DOWN UNDER O-B......LOL WELL TAKE CARE ALL
You know- I called the Herpes Support Line one time and asked about the twitches and the woman told me that people just "presume the twitches are from herpes, when they are unrelated". I was very upset with her lack of knowledge on the neuro end, being a " Herpes Expert".
I do get the twitch in my pinky and it feels like a phone ringing, buzz. Weird.
Hopefully they will subside, I feel better talking to others who don't think I am crazy for having these symptoms!
Thanks guys.
Good luck!
I got very severe twitches in my legs for about 2 months after getting genital HSV1. I have read that HSV1 can be even worse than HSV2 from a neuropathy point of view although I would think both viruses can be very problematic!
I spoke to the doctor about it and she said it was nerves or stress from having H or from the fact I had recently started a new, quite high-pressure job. But to me, it was obvious it was the H. I went from feeling normal to BANG, this tingling, itchy pain in the nerves of my legs - and I wasn't imagining it!
It is a lot better now, I have to say, hopefully my body has adjusted somewhat. But in the early months it was driving me MAD!
Ive found that it seems like a lot of people with HSV1 do get the neuropathy. It happens with HSV2 too but it doesnt seem as commonplace. More people Ive talked to who've experienced or do experience this tend to have HSV1 rather than HSV2. I have no medical backing on this and since its not even recognized as a symptom, it probably never will be studied but I wonder if it doesnt have something to do with the virus reacting in strange ways to being "out of place"
I have HSV1 and 2.
So it could be from HSV1. The neuralgia is bad in the face, so I presume it's from HSV1. I take Xanax and it sort of helps it.
Does anyone ever get weird feeling in the toes? I get a feeling like numbness, but not quite?
I developed twitches in my legs soon after I got infected...then they slowly spread to the rest of my body. Its been over a year, and I'm still getting muscle twitches all over my body....legs, feet, hands, fingers, face, behind...you name it. Sometimes there are days when they really bother me, but other times they aren't so bad. I don't think they will ever go away so you kind of just have to get used to them.
i notice people with shingles get this nuerophy. has everyone been blood tested to make sure they have herpes. i mean.. ive never heard of a person only having pain and not have any visible symptoms.

just some scrapes in my pubic region that were swabbed and came back positive for type 1. No obvious sores/lesions/cuts/etc. I suppose that would count as an outbreak but nothing that even closely resembles anything mentioned here really.
Its not something else, it came on after a sexual act and after all the symptoms of herpes started.
