ok, let's just say you have herpes and you have unprotected sex with a clean person and you aren't having an outbreak, can you still spread it? isn't it least likely you can? I don't know if i have it, but yesterday i had protected sex and today i have a tear by the opening, and i thought my vagina was just irritated by my pad earlier two days ago, i don't know...but please answer this.

yes, it is possible to spread herpes without an outbreak if you are shedding, which can happen with no symptoms. asymptomatic shedding is estimated to be fairly common, so i don't know that it is necessarily less common. i'm sure someone can answer that for you, though.

so, do you think the tear could be herpes? not sure if i understood that. herpes usually presents as blisters first, but it can vary so widely from person to person and ob to ob. i would have the doc look at it if you are concerned.

Does that person know you have herpes and were they willing to take the risk of getting it through unprotected sex? I got it from having unprotected sex from my fiance....he had no break out on his penis at all ,but he was shedding the virus. I got it exactly 4 days after....It destroyed me literally and has changed who I am and how I live my life 4 ever. Please do NOT have unprotected sex with anyone unless they are aware and are willing to take the chance that they can become infected with this. And please go on line to a search engine and type in '' asymptomatic shedding herpes'' ...get as much info as you can about it and read it. Herpes can be transmitted off of the skin without showing any physical signs at all.

actually, you can still contract herpes even through "protected" sex. Since it is contracted by means of skin-to-skin transmission and condoms do not prevent skin contact, you can still get it if the skin around their groin or thighs is infected.
