A moth ago I wass diagnosed with herpes and the diagnosis was followed by a long outbreak (3 weeks). I started seeing someone about ten months ago and I guess I got it from him. He has gone to the dr, he has never had an outbreak she confirms that he has no signs of having ever had one, but took a blood test and we will see. The real question is about my seven year old son. I am trying my best to keep clean around him but am afraid that somehow he will get infected. what are the precautions to take. so far I haven't seen much on the spreading of herpes in a household with children.
If you have genital herpes, the chances of passing it on to your son are low. Make sure that the family does not share any bathroom items (especially towels, sponges, washcloths) or underwear (I really don't think this would be an issue with your son but just for reference!)
There is a woman here - backpacker - who I think has genital herpes and is the mother of four boys, I am sure she could give good advice here.
