How to get rid of the sores...?

I am not on Valtrex or anything like that but am having an OB. How can I get rid of the sores fast? I am trying garlic oil but am already a week into the OB and it doesn't seem to be helping, yet.

What can I take or eat, or apply to the sores?

Re: How to get rid of the sores...?

Do you have oral or genital herpes? There are quite a few products available for oral herpes so you could get some different ones and see what works for you.

For both oral and genital herpes, it might be worth getting a cream containing zinc oxide. There is one in the UK sold under the brand name "Sudocrem" which my mother swears by for reducing the length of her (oral) OBs. It did seem to help my genital OBs somewhat (it's safe to use on the genitals).

Try an epsom salt bath. Why aren't you on on Valtrex - that would help things out! I take it as soon as I feel the symptoms and it goes away!

Re: How to get rid of the sores...?

I am not on Valtrex because this is my first O.B. I figure I'll go in to the doc as soon as I see the second O.B. This first outbreak is lasting a long time. I am almost through 1 1/2 weeks and see no sign of healing yet.

...and I may have started too late but garlic oil hasn't seemed to help yet.

Re: How to get rid of the sores...?

It's not at all unusual for first outbreaks to last 2 or 3 weeks. Later outbreaks should be significantly shorter (5 days or less).
