i had the type specific blood test done at 4 weeks after possible exposure....i know 12-16 is to be 100 percent, but is 4 somewhat accurate....they both came back negative....my doc seems to think it is right

Sorry dear, but 4 weeks is not nearly enough. I know the waiting game can be awfull, but you do need to test again at 12-16 weeks, better to wait for those 16 if you can. Your body takes time to build the possible antibodies for hsv, it´s just the way it is. It´s like with hiv tests, you need to wait those months to have a correct answer.
