I read something the other day that said there was a link between having genital herpes and getting cervical cancer. Has anyone else heard this? Has this happened to anyone? I'm not getting hysterical over it, but it gave me something to think about since I've been postponing my yearly exam for close to 5 months. I mean, really, I don't know about you guys but I just love "assuming the position"...and I don't even get dinner out of it!!

The incidence rate of HPV, which is one cause of cervical cancer, is higher among women with HSV than in the general population of women. It's the Human papilloma (sp?) virus that is the issue though, not HSV. Having herpes itself doesn't predispose you to cervical cancer. Get in for your checkup!

Yes ma'am!

I was due to go in about 4 months ago, but I was working towards lowering the intensity of the outbreaks before I went. A friend of mine recently found out she had cancer and was going in for a hysterectomy...then I read that bit about cervical cancer. It was like "oooo...evil omen?"
