I'm new to this board and so glad to find a group of supportive people facing the same struggles that I've been dealing with. I was diagnosed less than a year ago. I have found ways to cope with most of the horrible things that come with it but I still find myself constantly constantly constantly stressing about having children. I've known my whole life that I want to have lots of kids. Now I am at the point in my life that I am ready to start a family. I'm just wondering if any of you have had children after being diagnosed and how it all worked. Were you terrified that you would pass it to your baby? I know that you can elect for a c-section but is that necessary and does it even help? This is so scary and for me the most painful part to cope with. Any advice would be so appreciated.

I haven't had a child since getting this virus but from what I know it can be a non issue. If you are having an outbreak when it is time to deliver then you will need a c-section but if not you can deliver naturally. I know a lady who has had two kids naturally and she has HSV2. It might be a good idea to talk to your doctor to put your mind at ease. Peace

I have had h-2 for twenty years. I delivered both of my daughters vaginally without being on any meds beforehand or during the deliveries. I got an outbreak the day after my first daughter was born but she was fine. The more you know what your outbreaks look and feel like the better off you are. As long as there is no active outbreak at delivery, vaginal deliver is much preferred over a c-section
