Unhappy What am i going to do

Well im 16 years old and I have been tested postive for herpes . I found out 2 days before my 16th birthday. I have had it for about a year at least but i never went to the doctor because I was afraid. What will people think about me? How am i going to tell me boyfriend? That made me even more afraid to go to the doctor. They told me I had the high risk kind. I really dont know what she was saying cause my mind went blank. 15 and I have herpes. I know who gave it to me but I really dont want to talk to him because I think he knew. It was so hard to go to the doctor. The same night the doctor call me I call my boyfriend crying. I had no idea what he would think of me. I told him what happen and I told him I knew who gave it to me. All he said was I love you, stop crying and im not going anywhere. That made me feel alot better knowing that he was not going to tell the whole school and he was not going to leave me.We are still together. But I have not went back to the doctor. I want to go but I dont want to go alone. My mom and dad dont even know. Just him and I. So should I tell my mom? She will kill me though. I'm just afraid to do anything about it. The doctor also said the type I got can cause cancer but i'm soooo afraid. Please tell me what you think I should do.

So sad [/COLOR]

Re: What am i going to do :o

herpes doesn't cause cancer. let's get that straight....

HPV can cause cervical cancer, but you said you have herpes, not HPV.

you should probably tell your mom; you will feel better when you get it out and talk to someone about it. talking helps a lot. also, don't be afraid. SO MANY people have herpes, but they just aren't open about it in public. there are people you can talk to, support groups you can join, and it's NOT the end of the world....I thought it was, but things get better. Educating yourself about the virus will help a lot.

Hope this helped a little....

Re: What am i going to do

hey honydip

sorry to hear but it really isnt the end your world.

You must try and speak to someone in a professional capacity, it doenst have to be your doctor. They can offer advice, guidance, medication, supoort groups etc. Really the only way to learn to live with herpes and to educate the people you come into contact with, it to know about herpes yourself.

I have only recently started to 'really' learn about herpes, thanks to this site and others, and feel much more informed. And I'm sure once you know more about it you can then approach your mum, who will hopefully understand the upset you are going through right now.

Take your b/f with you when you go if you are scared of going on your own.

You are not alone, there are millions of us and awareness and being informed about the infection are steps in the right direction,

take care and hope all works out well
