Supposedly you can...something could have triggered it, maybe an illness or stress. I think people can go without
ever knowing it...that's why I keep saying that just because someone thinks they are all fine and clean and wouldn't want to get involved with something that has herpes...needs to have themselves tested because they certainly can have it and not even know it so they need to come down off their high horses! My BF didn't have any idea he had herpes because he didn't recognize the symptoms of it....just thought it was an irritation from friction. I asked him if I would have had herpes before we got together would he have still wanted a relationship with me...I mean since he had no idea he had herpes...and he said probably not but he couldn't be for sure because that situation had never come up for him before but certainly he would have had to think about it.
