x marks the spot? - Herpes Message Board

About a year ago, I contacted some form of herpes viral infection that left me with viral 'x' marks all over my body, particularly on my face and back. This occurred concurrently with presentation of angular chelitis around my lips. (I have taken several HIV tests, all of which have been negative.) Fortunately, I was able to successfully suppess the symptomatic marks using a combination of therapies such as BHT and herbs such as coconut oil, licorice, lemon balm, red marine algae, noni, uva ursi etc. Yet I'm still concerned about what variant of herpes virus this was/is. I'm not particularly concerned about HSV 1 or 2, but if it was HHV6 or HHV8, that does alarm me because of the threat of various cancers. I looked into getting tested for herpes, but the various clinics that I checked with seemed clueless about a test that would include HHV6 or HHV8. As I am currently unemployed, I don't want to waste my precious funds for a test that would not include these. The free clinic where I got tested for HIV does not even test for herpes, because of lack of funding (!). Does anyone here have experience with developing these 'x' marks on their body and getting a diagnosis of what type of herpes was causing them?

hi kilgore . I do not know answer to your question . I only know is hsv 1 and hsv 2 . way I have understood it is that both can be oral and genital herpes. I do not know what x marks are either . have never heard of it . like to know . also have heard of hhv6 , but do not know what it is or the hhv8 . if you or anyone does know would like to know. .I am getting my test results back on Monday morning for herpes . am scared but do want to know if is herpes , will be a relief to know .after all this time . kilgore know what you mean about clinics not knowing things . I went and had test at my gyno office . was hard to do but in my area did not test either .

HHV6 is thought to be a cause of multiple sclerosis. HHV8 is thought to be a cause of Karposi Sarcoma, a type of cancer commonly found in AIDS patients. That's about all I know. You can google the terms and find out more.
