is this herpes?

I know virtually nothing about herpes except a few things I've read on the internet today.

Hope it's ok to be a little graphic here. I'm a woman. For several years, I have had a spot right inside my vagina that gets sore (and itchy). Not on the outside, it's inside a little on the real fleshy part. Maybe once a month, or once every few months, for a few days. So I looked at it with a mirror (that was a hoot; I needed more hands) and it seems like a tiny line of clear pimples. Like they are filled with clear fluid. Mentioned it to my obgyn in December when I got a pap and she said to come in when it happens. Happened last Friday but I couldn't get in her office til Tuesday, but there was still one little pimple. She took a little piece and is sending it to the lab. Also did a blood test. I have no idea what blood test (I've seen several types mentioned on the net). Just said it shows whether you've ever been exposed to herpes.

I've been married 36 years to same person, neither fools around. Doc said if it was herpes it could have been dormant for years. Hubby had sex with two girls before we got together. But 36 years seems like a LONG time ago. But I asked doc what she thought it was if not herpes, and I could tell that's her only answer.

I looked at photos on the internet, and of course they are only going to show the really graphic cases. But I don't have bumps or lesions on the outside. And what I saw in the pics looked like red pimples and large yellowish sores, not just a little clear pimple. And whenever I get this, it is the EXACT same spot, less than 1/16" by 1/2". The herpes pics looked a like rash that spread all around. Seems weird that it would occur in the exact same spot all the time. And internet mentions blisters popping and crusting over as OB progresses over a few days. I've never seen any crusting or anything like that.

Hubby has never had any red spots or anything.

During the days this is sore, when I pee, it definitely burns in that spot, like it's a little raw. And I can rub it with my finger and feel a little rough area.

So I thought this forum would be a good place to get some information from people who know what they are talking about. The web has a lot of good information, but doesn't answer specific questions.

Sure is embarrassing to type this. But it's nice to have a forum to come to ask questions. Does this sound like herpes?

Re: is this herpes?

I hate to say it, but yes it does sound exactly like herpes. It reappears in the location where it first entered your body. As to how you got it, or when you got it, I can't answer that question. I would suggest you both have the blood tests done. And DON'T TOUCH IT!!! The virus is on your skin after you touch it and if it is on another entry point (cut finger, eye, other vaginal areas) it can cause you to have outbreaks in a new area. Washing with soap and water immediately after will wash the virus off but if it found an entry point, it is not something that can be erased with a good scrubbing.

My outbreaks are tiny red dots that sometimes look like a cut. As you said, the websites normally show extremely bad cases and before I contracted herpes I too thought that having herpes meant the person would have huge blisters which would be very evident if you were having sex. I was wrong.

Re: is this herpes?

I just got a call from the doctor's office that the blood test was negative. She said it was an hsv igg test (I asked because I've seen people here discussing different blood tests). She said I was negative for both the herpes 1 and 2.

The culture on the little pimple takes 72 hours and won't be back til tomorrow or Monday.

Could the pimple fluid show herpes but the blood test be negative?
