Question about how the virus is spread - Herpes Message Board

Ok, I know this question might sound stupid, but I have come across two websites that contradict each other.

Most websites say that herpes is not present in sperm/ejaculate or vaginal fluids, but another says that it is.

My question is, if a partner has herpes and ejaculates on another partner where they may have a cut or open skin, is it possible to spread/contract it that way? Thank you for your help.

I got this information from two different websites and this is what influenced me to make this thread. Does anyone have an answer? 30 something views and zero responses is kind-of like a slap in the face.

“Herpes can be spread through ejaculate that contains sperm, but the sperm itself is not infected with the virus. Ejaculation onto the skin of someone who does not have herpes can lead to infection if they have a break in the skin that comes in contact with the ejaculate.”

Keyser soze.....I feel for you but don't feel as if I'm qualified to answer. Those are 2 confusing answers you have! Usually, I have found the most knowledgeable people on these boards are on later at night. I am sure they will answer you soon.

Yeah, it is pretty confusing.

But on the other hand, only one site states that it can be spread that way and a bunch of others state otherwise. I guess it should be safe to assume that it can’t, but you never know… It would be nice to hear from someone who knows for sure. A solid yes or no is all I need.

I'm not sure I can answer that with confidence. I'd say that you can have the virus present in the vagina and in the male urethra(I think that's what it's called) so it would only stand to reason that the virus could be present in the vaginal fluid or semen if the virus were active in those areas? I wouldn't play with fire if I didn't want to get burned!...let's just say that. If you know that someone has herpes...I certainly wouldn't want them to get their semen on me if I was concerned about catching herpes. Does anyone see this as an incorrect conclusion?
