sex crime

I'm at a bit of a loss, because I'm not quite sure how to get help regarding my current situation.

I've recently been infected with herpes by a man who does this chronically to women, and is looking to do it again-many times over in the NYC area (which I can prove through documentation).

In short, I had a relationship with this man-for a little over a month, in which he never disclosed his having herpes, (and possibly more?-I'm still waiting for test results), and dismissed me immediately, with no reason, as I got sick. I now have a pile of medical and emergency room bills, (I currently have no insurance, since I just graduated graduate school). But above all, I know he is looking to do this again (immediately) and probably has in the past.

I recently discovered (the past two days) that he is advertising on various S&M websites, and other online personals, and more than willing to invite other women to his home-in which he will infect them. (again, i can prove this).

I'm looking for advice/guidance in how to pursue this legally, if that is a possibility, with the hopes of stopping him immediately before anyone else gets hurt.

Any advice, suggestions? Are there advocacy groups that will help me? I am still trying to get over the shock.

Re: sex crime

I’m not familiar with US laws but I would expect you could sue him if he has caused you emotional distress, as herpes is not a potential fatal STD like HIV I would imagine it would be very hard to prove that it has caused you physical damage. But I’m no lawyer so this is just a guess.

Re: sex crime

I have heard of people suing for medical expenses, can't imagine how you could benifit by the time you pay a lawyer though.

Re: sex crime

I believe the only thing you can do is report him to the S&M sites and they may pull his ad or profile down but as far as legal recourse in the US I don't think you have any. Only knowingly infecting someone with hiv is an offense.
