What are the chances of a child getting infected by her parents (both confirmed HSV2 for unknown periods) via daily activities if there was no O/B during birth?

How risky are kisses when there is no visible O/B?

take every precaution, because I think that it is almost inevitable to pass it along especially if you have frequent outbreaks and have transfered it to other parts of your body (transferance). It's like chiken pox you can get them anywhere. Pray that you stay outbreak free till child is an adult it's the only sure way they are safe. I fear my children all born free of the virus have it now. All get fever blisters. It's heartbreaking.

I believe that most kids get it from their parents. Be careful and don't kiss them on the lips!

i got herpes from my mom when I was young, but my sister did not. My dad did not have it. Two of my cousins did not get it, and my aunt (their mom) had it.
Be careful, but don't be too frightened, give the baby the love and affection it needs, but try hard. If they do get the virus it is bad, and it is sad, but it is not the worst thing that could happen to them, so keep it in perspective.

So if you have genital herpes, is the risk just as great to pass along to your child? I don't get cold sores or fever blisters, etc. I was just diagnosed with the virus about 6 weeks ago after having a primary or initial outbreak (culture and IgM blood work came back positive - IgG negative). I am currently still trying to get over a 2nd (recurrent) OB - that seems to not want to end!!

Anyway, the location of my sores/blisters are around the genital area only. That said, I wash my hands every single time they are near that area and most especially during an OB. What is the risk to my son being that I don't get sore/blisters orally and I wash my hands often? I don't want to have to worry about giving my kiddo a kiss good-night....that's crappy.....like there's not enough to deal with already
