How long does it take before a outbreak occur after getting infected? Can a person have herpes with no outbreaks then out of the blue say years later have a outbreak?

Absolutely. You can have the virus and not have a breakout. some people have maybe 2-3 a year...men mostly....women have a much harder time with herpes.

heyyy.. you can defently have an out brake and it wont show that is whey they recomande pap tests... and other tests every few months... sometimes if u are a girl u will get them in the inside of u such as ur uterus thats why its important to get checked up on,.. SOme of these aretratable

Just a clarification; A paps test is not a test for Herpes and will not reveal your herpes status, unless you're in the middle of an outbreak.

A typical STD checkup doesn't not include a test for herpes! You need to request it.

The correct herpes bloodtest is and IgG type specific blood test. HerpeSelect is the most common. Skip the older IgM test, they're worthless.
