Do I have herpes??? freaking out please help!!! - Herpes Message Board

So I have recently found out that this guy that I've hooked up with twice has oral herpes, i think it's the kind that you get when you're little from sharing drinks? It's been about four months and I haven't had any symptoms or anything, but I was just wondering...can I get oral herpes if I make out with him when he DOESN'T have an outbreak? Or are the chances significantly smaller? This matter is urgent because I will probably be kissing him tomorrow night!!

Any comments are greately appreciated! I need advice!!

hey, ah from what i have read if u get it the symptoms usually show between 2 and 20 days, so if it was 4 months ago you are probably fine. but then again apparently some people dont really get any symptoms so you might want to get a blood test if you want to make sure. and yes it is possible to pass it on even if the other person currently has no sores, becuase it happened to me

You can also get genital herpes from someone who has a cold sore in their mouth if you let them perform oral sex on you. Cold sores is known as Herpes Simplex 1 and gential herpes is herpes Simplex 2, I have a friend who has a type of herpes 1 that appears on her face when she gets upset or stressed!

I thought I had gential herpes as I was having outbreaks of sores and they were extremely painful, they would almost look like a really big pimple and I finally got the courage to go to the doctor, I was thankful to find that it was not herpes, but apparently an allergic reaction to bath powder and bubble bath, I now know that for some reason my gential area is an extremely sensitive area for allergies!
