If you have a cold sore and give your partner oral sex, you are practically giving him genital herpes, type 1.
It is very possible he already has type 1 antibodies in his system from having type 1 orally whether her knows it or not. He could have it from kissing you or could have had it since childhood. If it the antibodies built up enough already, there is a good chance he would not get genital type 1 herpes.
It would be good to have him tested so you know whether or not you have to be careful.
