| blood test negative after 15 weeks: definitive???
My blood test came back negative for both HSV 1 an HSV 2, however I want to be absolutely certain im out of the woods before dating again. Has anyone else tested negative after over 15 weeks from the initial exposure after experiencing severe symptons? I know in very rare cases it takes as long as 6 months to test positive and was wondering if that perhaps occurs more often with people who have mild to no symptons, thus the body doesnt produce large amount of antibodies that are detectable right away.
The sexual encounter I was worried about was august 28th, and I took my third blood test dec 13th, or about 15 weeks after.
I've never had any soars or lesions, but following that sexual encounter I developed severe dysuria w/ clear/***** and bloody discharge at times that lasted for about 6 weeks, noticed the lymph nodes in my groin were swollen. I saw two doctors in this time who said they did not think it was herpes, and finally i went to see a urologist. A slight burning sensation at the beginning of peeing never went away, and after an exam the urologist said i have prostatitis which was causing the burning.
Be curious to know peoples experiences with blood testing - thanks very much
