| Re: Another question
We are not doctors and really can't diagnose you on here, just like your own doctor was unable to just by going by your symptoms. Herpes symptoms do differ for different people and during different times it changes behavior. I suffer from daily symptoms, but take 6 capsules of extra virgin coconut supplements everyday to keep the symptoms at bay (3 in morning and 3 at night with food). The best thing to do is get a type specific HerpeSelect blood test. This is the most accurate blood test out there and will tell you which type(s) you have. It won't tell you which part of the body you have it because each type (1 & 2) can occur on either genitals or mouth area.
Your ex who says he only had type 2 genital may indeed have had type 1 oral and given it to you in the genital area. About 75% of the population has type 1 oral herpes and 25% has HSV-2. Many people don't even know it. So you could have gotten it from someone else too, who knows at this point.
Herpes doesn't live in the saliva, but it is contracted from skin-to-skin contact. I hope I've answered all your questions.
