i was wondering how long it takes for genital herpes to show after physical contact with someone that may have it??

I was intimate with someone on Mar 1. Painful urination and a yellow discharge started on Mar 4. Ulcers appeared Mar 8 and I have been in pain ever since. I ended up in the ER on Mar 10 and was told that clincially it looks like herpes. I am waiting on the culture to come back for a definitive diagnosis. I am so afraid. I have been in a monogamous relationship with my husband for 12 years now. We decided to act out our fantasy and this is what happens to me. I am so ashamed and mad at myself. I don't know how I am going to live with this.

It is a common virus - remember 1 in 5 adults have it. Don't blame yourself.

Take it from someone whos 25 and single with herpes, its not the end of the world. atleast you are married already so your husband will accept you regardless and it get better over time.

WEll honestly this virus is so difficult to detect that you wont even know. I was intimate with someone and it wasnt until i was intimate with someone else 2 months later that i found out the first person gave me herpes.
