A positive HSV2 test means that the person HAS HSV2. (Antibodies = Virus) This is probably genital herpes, because HSV2 orally is really rare. Yes, the person can transmit the virus, even if he/she has never shown a symptom in their life. The virus is permanent - you can't get rid of it.
Having HSV2 does not give you immunity to HSV1, although it does seem to decrease your chances contracting HSV1 - sort of a partial protection.
