transmission

Ok now Im confused. 7 years ago i went to a dr, she looked at me and said you have herpes. She didnt test me. I have never had an outbreak, I have been with my bf for 2 years now, we are faithful and plan to stay together. =)
anyway-- in this two years with unprotected sex, oral also why hasnt he become infected if i have herpes???? if they say it can be spread even when youre not having an outbreak how is it he never got it? was i misdiagnosed?
im so confused. Im going for a blood test. I do have hpv found that out a yr ago. maybe time i went to dr i had hpv and not hsv is that possible? and what about now, do we need protection now after two years of not using anything? Can he get gh from oral? He hasnt yet 2 years UNPROTECTED sex with him .. some one please explain ????????? how accurate is a blood test? does gh die off? should we use protection now? can he still perform oral on me? i really need answers. thank you

Re: transmission

You really need to know the answer to your blood test. Either you were misdiagnosed or possibly have genital type 1. A lot of people only get one outbreak from that. Then it is dormant and it is very likely your boyfriend won't get it.

Get the answer to your blood test and we can explore your questions from there.

Keep in mind, if you do test positive for type 1, you won't know if it is genital or oral...unless you know you received oral sex before your outbreak.

Your boyfriend should be tested too. If you both have type 1 or 2 with no symptoms then no reason to change anything you do.

If he doesn't have it, then we can ask "What is the worst that can happen?" Your boyfriend that you are going to spend the rest of your life with might get herpes too and he'll have to deal with an occasional outbreak? If he loves you, that shouldn't be an issue.

Re: transmission

Hi... Went to dr today. I have been going crazy with my emotions on hpv and hsv. Well I have both. I also saw a result from a blood test I had in 2002. Showed hsv1 postive. 9.40 hsv2 positive 2.47 Ok so I know i have hsv . In 7 years I have had no outbreaks. In the 2 years I have been with my boyfriend, having unprotected vaginal and oral sex he has not had an outbreak or caught herpes. Isnt that unusual? Also I asked my dr,. Ok so now that i know for sure and me and my bf have not used protection in two years what do i do now? She told me there is no reason for me to change the way we have been doing things unless I have an outbreak. What about oral sex? they didnt really answer me. I take vitamins, L-lysine, extra Vit C, immune support pill, And that stuff thats in yogurt L Aciphillis? I dont drink alcohol, but I do smoke about 3 or 4 a day =( thats down from like 15 to 20 a day. So is it safe to say my bf and I will be ok? I mean we will probably use condoms, but if i am not having an outbreak can he still do oral? I mean he has for 2 years now. Im so confused. Also are hpv and hsv together life threatening???? My colposcopy was normal paps normal. Any advice?

Re: transmission

I'm right there with you Tiggy44. It's hard to know how to react to this type of thing and try to function normally. I don't want to contract the virus to my boyfriend, but do I then deny myself the pleasure of oral sex? I know there are several things a person can do to show they love someone, but does this have to be banished in order to protect them? & what if they do get the virus you have? will your sex life suffer a great deal because now both of you are dealing with outbreaks? It's like a bad movie of an epidemic outbreak where you never think you'll be the one that's infected, but somehow now you're living it. I wish I knew the answers, but like you, I'm dealing with the same questions and struggles. Let me know if you get the "golden ticket."

ps: don't think that hpv & hsv are life treatening, just life altering.
