Herpes test came back positive for Group B strep?

Hey everybody, so I was recently told that I have genital herpes and they took a culture and sent it off to the lab. Today I got the results back and they said I tested positive for "group B strep"...does anybody know what that is? I was put on Valtrex and my outbreak has completely cleared up..but I was also on cipro and then a z-pack so I dont know if whatever it was was cleared up by the antibiotics or the valtrex. And I'm still unsure as to what Group B strep is....maybe Group B is another way of saying Herpes type one or two? No idea but any input is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Group B strep is a bacterial infection. It's not an STD, just an "ordinary" infection that happens to people of all ages. The antibiotics should have cured it (cipro and z-pack should cure just about anything!).

Valtrex is intended to fight off the herpes. Did the lab say you have herpes?

No when asked the results they just said " your doctor says its group B strep" and that was it...I called back to urgent care that took the culture because they got the results and they said they wouldnt tell me over the phone...I had to come in. I have an appointment with my Gyno tomorow to go over the results and figure it all out.

If you are feeling better, then presumably the strep is cured. The question is, do you have herpes? If not, then you can stop the Valtrex. So, see what the gyn says.
