| Re: trying for a baby
You can get pregnant and have a normal delivery. Usually they end up putting you on valtrex for the last few months/weeks to try and suppress the virus/outbreaks. At the time of your delivery your doctor will check you over to make sure everything is fine. If you are having an outbreak, a C-section can be performed. The risk to the baby is passing through the birth canal with an active virus on the mother's skin/cervix etc. So a C-section prevents that contact. You should ask your doctor and make sure they know you have herpes.
For your sexual partner the risk of passing it on to him can be reduced if you are on some type of suppressive medicine i.e. valtrex.
