Attempt to rekindle...

As I had previously posted..I had contracte g.h. from a guy I was seeing while separated from my long term ex with whom I have child with..We have been trying to work out our issues and get back together..Today I told him and it is not going well...First he was furious(still is)..Upset cuz we cannot have the same sex life as before(oral mostly and no protection)..and doesn't really want me anymore..Im so unhappy right now..I guess his love for me has conditions..Discourages me to even try to date ever again

Re: Attempt to rekindle...

Hang in there. Give him some time. It is a HUGE deal for someone who may not have the virus especially when it will restrict what they are used too sexually with you. Your ex also has to deal with the reality that you were with someone else, his anger could be toward the guy who gave you the virus... he has a lot to sort out. Give him some time. If he loves you - I mean really LOVEs you, then the virus is something he will read up on and try to figure out if he can deal with it. If he doesn't put that much effort into it - you need to let it go and stop beating yourself up. It's not your fault you got hit with this, it wasn't intentional. So, let the ex stomp and go through his assortment of emotions and then see where things fall. One day is not enough for him to figure it all out.
I wish you the best and hope the best and right decisions are made for all concerned.

Re: Attempt to rekindle...

Here's a thought...tell him to go and have the blood test done. It is entirely possible that he has the antibodies already and just doesn't have any outbreaks. In which case, you cannot give him what he always has...make sense? Also do you know which type you have hsv 1 or 2 or both?

Re: Attempt to rekindle...

As far as I know of I have type 2. My Doctor never told me which type I had besides genital. I am so crushed right now. He doesn't ever want to speak to me again. So many years together and he is gonna use this as a reason to never be with me again because he can't deal with it. He says he'll just find someone without anything wrong with them.

Re: Attempt to rekindle...

Just don't assume you have Type 2 just bec you had an ob on your genitals. I had an ob down below and test results are Type 1 which I more than likely caught from my recent and current boyfriend from him giving me oral sex. I know this is probably recent b/c my bloodwork came back negative but the swab was positive and was my first ob. Never even had a cold sore. When I told him and gave him the stats on how many people have Type 1 and don't know he understood. He has never had an ob but does remember having a cold sore in high school. So, if he had a cold sore, then he more than likely has Type 1 and doesn't see the need to get tested. I did reassure him that he can't get something he already has. We haven't had any problems, aren't sleeping with anyone else, have sex, oral sex, don't use a condom but I am on Acyclovir and have had just the one ob. If I were to have another ob then obviously we would not have sex. I'd tell him to get tested. But if he is acting this way, is he really worth it? And, if you were just recently tested and your bloodwork came back positive, maybe you've had this a while but haven't had an outbreak. I read several posts that people have had herpes for years but never had an ob until later on.
