Mine lasted 2 days but I was on Valtex 2x daily (for five day and once a day after) as soon as I saw things weren't right down below. When the test results came back my bloodwork tested negative but the swab tested positive for Type 1. I've read on here that other people have had outbreaks that have lasted longer but not sure if they have Type 1 or Type 2. I don't think there's much of a difference excpet it seems that Type 1 Genital isn't as active, but then again everyone is different. By my 7th day, I had a follow up visit to my gyno and he said I was all clear. This all happend back in June and thankfully I haven't had another outbreak (knock on wood) since.
I am in my first outbreak and this is day 12. I was told 2 weeks is about average for that first outbreak. I am pretty sure due to the severity of my ob, that i must have type 2 but I have not gotten my blood work back to confirm this. Also, i was on 3g of Valtrax a day plus Zovirax cream.
Harley, my swab came back positive but my blood work came back negative like you. They were really shocked at the doctor's office bc my outbreak so so severe. Infact, the Nurse said this was the worst she's ever seen! I really don't understand how it couldn't be type II.
