herpes and a missing spleen - Herpes Message Board

I haven't told my boyfriend about my type 2 herpes yet. we have not had sex but i think it could happen soon. he has had his spleen removed which puts him at a greater health risk if he should acquire an infection or virus. does this mean that even with protection, sex would not be a good idea?

He would have to talk to his doctor on that situation.
Are you on suppressive medication that would reduce the risk of spreading it to him?

thank-you, i figured he would need to talk to his doctor, i was just hoping for some info beforehand. It might alleviate the talk all together if there is no hope for having a sexual relationship. yes, i am on valtrex. i have had herpes for 1 and1/2 years and even with the meds breakout every one to two months. the person that i contracted it from was a carrier without symptoms.
