scared...

So the story goes i met this girl, we started talking and going out. we would always fool around and she avoided it when i asked if she was clean one night. after a few weeks of this things got heated one night and i didnt have a condom and i started into things, well i went slow and we stopped after about a minute and then she started to get really weird, cried and i basically figured out by asking what was wrong that she took valtrex and she said i needed to be tested now. she claims no outbreaks in a year since shes had her OB of 3 blisters, SAID she was on valtrex but she was very "juicy" when we had sex and i think i might have noticed blood once on my boxers after she was grinding on me, but i never noticed anything other times that i was giving oral... now things have cooled off since i found out and i ended it with her, simply because she didnt tell me before or stop me and thats not right in my eyes but i shouldnt have been so horny and stupid. i went to the doctor and got a blood test and get the results in two days. we had sex probably a week and a half to 2 weeks ago and the last two days i have felt a slight ache on the head of my penis and i believe the skin might be broken and there is a small red spot, but i notice no white top, no bumps, it doesnt hurt when i pee, but i have been going alot, however it could just be because i think about it so much. also i masturbated two days ago and it was slightly rough =X and that is when the pain might have started but definitely the day after i felt it and noticed something, if that changes anything, i feel like i need to include all the variables that i keep thinking about however embarrassing they might be... i feel like im scaring myself and to say the least i dont know how im gonna react when i find out on monday. should i go to the doctor in the morning and get them to look at it? or should i just wait? waiting is horrible, i cant stand not knowing... i feel hopeless...

Hi,
I agree with you , she should have been honest and not make a decision for someone else. Do you know which type of blood test was done? If it was an IGM that is not reliable and I would suggest you ask the doctor for an IgG type specific... now onto the next part.

The only thing with the blood test is that if it is a new infection it may take 3-4 months for your body to build up the antibodies to be detected in the blood test.. which means the results may come back negative or a low positive at which point in time to be on the safe side I would suggest that you get retested in 4 months.

Ok... on the upside of things... if she is on Valtrex that is a good thing because it cuts the transmission rate down 50% then if she weren't taking it.. so out of a year you would have a 2% chance of catching it, that is if she is type 2.. if she is type 1 the transmission is less..

Here are the transmission rates.. hopefully this will ease your mind a little

Here are the Female to Male transmission rates

If you have 100 couples where the female has HSV 2 but not the male (these figures are over a year) the odds of female to male transmission are if you do nothing other than avoid sex during an outbreak 4 men out of a 100 will get herpes in a year or 4% If you do go on a suppressive therapy then it drops to 2 men out of a 100 in a year or 2% and if you use suppressive and a condom the chances are 1 man out of a 100 will get herpes in one year or 1%.

Male to Female Transmission Rate

If you have 100 couples where the male has HSV 2 but not the female (these figures are over a year) the odds of male to female transmission are if you do nothing (other than avoid sex when there is an outbreak) 8-10 females out of a 100 will get herpes in a year or 8-10% If you do go on a suppressive therapy then it drops to 4-5 females out of a 100 in a year or 4-5% and if you use suppressive therapy and a condom the chances are 2-3 females out of a 100 will get herpes in one year or 2-3%.

The valtrex and transmission study stats are based on having sex 2 times/week.
