| Re: 4 year old boy develops herpes on the hand
Hi
#1 Are you 100% sure that is what it is? Was the child tested or a culture done of the sore? I am not sure what answer you are seeking, it is very upsetting to find this on a child, Herpes is passed from skin to skin contact, it is not uncommon for lesions to occur in other areas of the body other then genital HSV2 or Lips and mouth area HSV1. It is difficult to say where contact could have been, it could have been a simple peck on the lips from someone who didn't even know they had the virus. Herpes invades the spiral cord and then travels to the nerves, depending on which nerve it decides to effect is where the lesion will appear.. I am sorry to hear about your child .. I wish you the best. I hope I helped.
