Can genital herpes be transmitted via kissing?
I'm sorry if this is a silly question but I just want to be super clear on this-
Can I pass on genital herpes during an outbreak (lesions on genitalia) just by kissing (on the mouth only)?

Obviously I am abstaining from sex, but do I also have to abstain from kissing?

Hi No, herpes is transmitted from skin to skin contact with infected area.. so since you have it genitally...you can not pass anything through kissing if you do not have oral herpes

*Please remember you can still transmit (even when no signs)& catch herpes even while using a condom since it is transmitted from skin to skin contact or from sore secretions not inanimate objects*

Oh my goodness thank you SO MUCH for your help!!! This has been such a difficult time for myself and my partner! I was only diagnosed a few days ago and we are both still coming to terms with it all.
I am so relieved to know we are allowed to kiss! Going through this without being able to show affection for each other naturally has been one of the hardest things!!!
