I've had GHSV1 for over 3 years now... and I always have a lot of trouble telling when I have a OB vs a yeast infection or bacterial infection.
I'm not feeling right down there... nothing hurts but there is a slight amount of tingling and discharge... I don't seem to see any visible sores besides possibly something right at my vaginal opening which could possibly be irritation from intercourse. My main concern is that I did have unprotected sex with my boyfriend last night... he knows that I am HSV1 positive but now I'm starting to worry that I'm experiencing an OB... I felt a little strange downstairs yesterday but I looked at myself with a mirror and everything looked fine so I thought it was just a slight irritation or bacterial infection from intercourse. I should have been more careful but I have never really experienced (as far as I know) an OB besides possibly one or two since diagnosed a year ago. In the past I had gone in everytime I thought I was having an OB because I'm overly paranoid so the doctor a lot of the time just put me on antibiotics to be safe...
So... ladies, I'm just wondering... how do you know when you are having an OB? What do the sores look like? I know that all of this information is readily available for me at many sites including this one but I'm still confused and concerned... I still cannot distinguish when I am experiencing an outbreak. Also, when I was first diagnosed I know that the sores that I had were on my vaginal lips and not the opening... wouldn't they reoccur in the same spot?
The symptoms that you are describing sound like they could be the onset of an OB. Everyone doesn't always experience OBs in the same place, sometimes they move around. As for what they look like, my last OB looked like a paper cut If your feeling funny i would ask the doc for a script just to be on the safe side.
