scared to death of HSV1
 

i'm a teen. last month i recived oral sex from someone i didn't know ( i wasn't wearing a condom and it was for less than a minute). That was the only time i was ever in sexual contact with anyone. now i'm scared that i caught hsv1. i don't remember having a coldsore back when i was young. i do have bumps the shaft of my penis but the doctor didn't think it was herpes. I read online that most pepole get hsv1 while there in preschool or when there children. Now i'm really scared because i think i might have hsv1! I don't want to deal with the social stigma agaisnt it! I'M SCARED TO DEATH! I might have a blood test done for hsv1 but i'm scared to death that it'll come back positive for hsv1. I DON'T WANT HSV1! I'M LIETEALY FREAKING OUT! how do i calm down? can someone help me?

Just try to be calm .. chances are your ok. If you do choose to get a blood test you should wait at least 4 months... thats how long it could take to be detected in your blood.

Also just as an FYI you can still get herpes even if you use a condom for sex ( not sure if your active but just thought I would inform you) :)

that was the only time i ever had sexual contact with anyone :( could i have got hsv1 from somewhere else? i'm just worried because if i have hsv1 it'll scare my future partners away. :(

If you do get it that could be where you had gotten it from... or like you had mentioned .. getting it from when you were younger... I would just try to remain clam its not the end of the world :)

I would have it tested and maybe have the nurse scrape off the outbreak on your skin to see if you have really contracted Herpes. You cannot undo the things you have done, so just live with it. But there are always other medications to lessen the symptoms. I am having a HSV blood test done this week and will be returning for my result. I am scared too, so you are not alone. Just have to be more careful.

Ok first off get tested. then you will know, then if it is positive come back here and I'll tell you how it really isn't that big of a deal. I was sooooo upset when I got diagnosed and now think how silly I was because it's not a big deal at all. Plus lots and lots of people have it so in regards to scaring away future partners they very well may have it anyway. But do keep this experience in mind and when a partner tells you they have an STD give them a hug and say thanks for telling me. Don't run away but instead realize how hard it is to tell someone. If you don't have it perhaps you just needed to have this experience so that in the future you will be understanding.
Now go get tested and hopefully you don't have anything. :)
