I was diagnosed with HPV-1 in November. I had one outbreak and one treatment of medication, nothing since. I applied for health insurance in January (I am a subcontractor and single). I am 28 and in good health but was denyed because of my having herpes. I know there is a new law which cannot deny me for pre-existing conditions, however, from my understanding it does not go into effect until next year. Does anyone have experience with insurance in this fashion? I could use the names of some companies, even if I would have to pay more to get it, it would be nice to have.

Help please?
you should not have said anything about herpes when you filled out the health questionaire, then after you had the insurance you could start using it to pay for medicines.you could have told them you caught it after you filed for the insurance, they couldnt know the difference,no way they could.sometimes we talk to much when we dont need to.live and learn, live and learn.
Actually, the insurance company pulls all of your medical records. You have to sign a waiver stating that you are being truthful and if they discover you are not then they drop you from the insurance anyway. I only had the medicine once but it seems that I am "risky" since we don't know if I will have additional outbreaks.
