I have been diagnosed with the Herpes 1 virus. I had an initial vaginal outbreak, then went on Acyclovir and have not had one since (diagnosed 2 years ago). However, I always have an anal fissure. Like 28 days a month. It's not unbearable, more annoying, but why does this never go away??!??? I am on Acyclovir, have also tried Famvir, and never have had another vaginal outbreak. I don't get it. I took prescribed suppositories once, the fissure healed, then came right back. It's not hemorrhoids either. And it's not because if tight clothing or any such thing...has anyone else experienced this?

I've had persistent problems with anal fissures and generally tender skin around my anus for years. I've been to the doctors several times about it, but I only ever get put on a cream that is temporarily helpful. They are rarely very severe or painful, but they do interfere and annoy quite alot. If anyone has any tips they will be greatly received!

Anal fissure are little tears in the anal cavity that cause a great deal of pain. Theu occur when you have a bowel movement thats either too hard or too large. There is an acute n a chronic type. Sounds like you have the chronic type which means you will get them more frequently. The best thing to do is to have a high fiber diet and take stool softeners. Use A n D ointment too when it flares up. The key will be the high fiber diet always.

I had the same problem and had been misdiagnosed with herpes. I suffered with the fissures for months and finally saw a different doctor. It turned out I had Lichen Sclerosis. It's a rare skin disorder that causes many different symptoms. I felt like I had hundreds of tiny paper cuts all over the perineum area. Unfortunately you will have it for life, but it is not contagious and there are several different ways of treating the symptoms.
