I got my first genital herpes outbreak (type 1) on the 6th. I went to the doctor on the 11th & they gave me pills with m123 printed on them (valacyclovir). They told me to take 1 a day for 10 days, but also gave me refills but told me from now on take 1/2 tablet 2x a day for 3 days.
About 5 days into them I noticed the extreme pain had stopped but I also got sick - sore throat, fever, lots of phlegm. So far I'm doing alot better but today is the 22nd and things are not back to 100% normal.
I woke up and it was a little itchy down there, so I took a bath and that kind of stopped the itching. But it's still a little red looking and swollen on on side. (not half as bad as it was) but still. Also 2 days ago I noticed mucous in my stool and I haven't had much of an appetite.
What should I do? The doctor said some first outbreaks last up to 3 weeks...It's almost been 3 weeks. Should I give it another week and see what happens or should I start on my refills of the m123's?
*There isn't any pain, i can just tell it's not back to normal and a little itchy. Also I won't be able to go to the doctor again for about 4 weeks if I had to.
So please just offer me any tips/advice you can..This is my first ever experience with this =/
Re: *First herpes outbreak won't go away! Advice? =/
I would start the medicine if you have it to try and clear it up. Also, try to wear only cotton panties and if you can it may help to wear no panties at night or even during the day if possible with a skirt to try to keep the area dry until you feel back to 100%.
