i recently discovered my inner thigh and groin area to itch alot. redness occured right next testicles. a few days ago i noticed a a slight redness on the shaft of my penis. i really think its jock itch but i am still worried because i had unprotected sex a few weeks ago. my penis does not itch it is mainly my inner thigh right around my testicles. i would love to hear some feed back on this.

It may be just jock itch, not sure if it actually affect the penis though (I am a female). The thing to keep in mind sometimes the herpes virus can mimic jock itch. To be on the safe side if you have no sores, I would say you can go get a blood test (IgG herpes type specific) now or wait 4 months so that it has had time from that encounter to show up. If you test now and it is positive that means you more then likely had the virus already without knowing but if you test negative then at 4 months test positive you pretty much know where it came from.

Your symptoms sound more like jock itch, a fungal Candida infection of the skin. It can appear on the penis as well as groin. You might try one of the OTC creams for this, or if the groin area is very hairy, a spray powder, such as Micatin spray, will not make such a gooey mess. Air ventilation and keeping the area dry is important, so cotton boxers would help. It takes about 2 weeks for this to clear up with diligent use of antifungals twice a day. I would keep using it until the rash is 100% gone or it may come back.
