The virus comes out differently in everyone, but it is possible that you have had this for a while. I am assuming you had a culture done that turned up positive, I suggest that you also get the IgG herpes type specific blood test, if that comes out negative then you know it was a recent infection within the past 4 months. I mean either way your partner should be tested also.
