I found out that I tested positive for herpes genital area (not sure what type) back in 2010. My doctor showed me that lab paper work and the notation on the paper said I need to be retested. After being on valtrex for a year and not knowing what an herpes outbreak was like I got retested and the test came back negative. I contuined to take valtrex for another year and decided to come off of it being I didnt know what an outbreak was like. I recently had a UTI back in July of this year and experienced some burning around the outside of my vagina. I have been reading that herpes blisters usually hurt badly and is only fluid that comes out of it? I had a couple of blisters that had puss and fluid come out and they didnt hurt. Can this be something else and not herpes?

Do you recall how you were tested back in 2010? And then this time?

they were both blood test

Oh ok, it looks like maybe you had a low positive the first time. I am curious to know which blood test were ran, the IgM should not be used but rather the IgG.

The next time you have sores below try getting them cultured within 24-48hrs after appearing or just ensure you had the IgG herpes type specific blood test.

It may be something else as all sores or bumps below aren't always herpes. I wish I were able to give you a more definitive answer but it is a bit tricky when it comes to this virus.

Thanks, and yes the numbers were very low the first time it came back positive.
